Back in the day while I was working on my Teaching Credential, I used to spend the majority of my time at this amazing place:
Viento y Agua is a relaxing local spot in Long Beach near downtown. It’s an eco-friendly coffeehouse which serves a little bit of everything on their menu… drinks (coffees to smoothies), desserts, and bagel sandwiches (voted “Best in Town”). My favorite thing on their menu is their Mexican Mocha. Probably the best thing about this place (besides free-wifi) is that they schedule live musicians to come entertain their customers. It’s kind of a sweet, intimate spot for local artists to share their talents. Oh yeah, on top of all that, it’s also a mini art gallery with new exhibits almost every week!
If you’re visiting sometime soon, you will notice that they don’t use/waste plastic cups (like most coffee chains out there). In fact, if you bring your own mug, you even get 10% off your purchase! If you bike there, you also get 10% off. One of their biggest selling points is that they use true beans…locally grown organic beans that are Rainforest Alliance certified…which just means it is socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable.
I’m also a sucker for their neat vintage furniture/diplay items!
If you feel like playing board games or drawing/coloring…they have some supplies for you to use. They also have some books to read if you forget your reading material.
They have an entire schedule of live music you can see here. I love it because they are true supporters of local artists/talents who are trying to make a name for themselves or who have already been semi-established. The music performances they invite reflects the vibe this place gives off. We happened to come at a perfect time because this cool band called Mexika was rocking out on their Mexican bowl drums and instruments. On certain nights, they also have open mic nights.
Anyway, if you happen to be visiting Long Beach…definitely a must visit! Honestly, every person I’ve taken to this place ABSOLUTELY loved it..the vibe..the decor..the music. Here are some videos I uploaded during my last visit to this place:
