Quote of the Day

Have I told you that I’m secretly an event planner?!? It seems like every weekend I’m planning our next adventure (whether it’s hanging out with friends, game nights at someone’s house, cooking dinner and a movie, etc). I started this mentality when we got married and all of a sudden, we were sitting in front of the TV watching some random thing on Netflix instead of being out and about like we used to be! Such a sad reality when you realize that life is different when you get married. Haha. So now..starting on Thursday, I’m already planning what we will be doing the next weekend. It’s fun! Frankly, I’d rather be doing things and keeping ourselves entertained than stay home. My sister-in-law told me the other day while I was out and about doing errands, “Melinda, you’re always going somewhere! When I had a baby, I didn’t leave the house for months!” It’s true. I realized that I’m not one to sit still..ever. I enjoy planning events, I can’t help it! Of course, life with a a baby is different now, but I still don’t like staying in all the time. Although, my husband might disagree. He’s always like, “We always have so many events on the weekends!” Yet, when I do plan a weekend of just staying home, he’ll be the first to complain and say, “I’m bored.” Lol.

Quote of the Day

Gosh, I’m in love with this quote! (Not in love with the acronym that I feel is WAY overplayed! I mean really.. YOLO? Come on!) It reminds me of what my Dad used to tell me when I was younger. I would stress out about things and waste a lot of time doing things over and over again. And he would tell me, ” Do it right the first time, so you don’t waste your time!” He was absolutely right. Once I started putting my 100% effort into everything I did, I got much better results. It changed my perspective on things and life overall was much more pleasant. Soo excited for this short week, Ave’s first plane ride to San Francisco, and Big Bear this weekend! I’m not too sure how it’ll be flying with an infant, but I’ll definitely let you know! Have a great week!

Quote of the Day

Happy Monday err’body! I just finished cleaning my place, making lunch for the husband, showering, vacuuming, and managed to have time to watch a couple episodes of a new show I started on Netflix. Lol. I feel on top of the world right now!!! Any how, hope your weekend went well. Ours was pretty eventful. We went to a super cute bridal shower and celebrated a 25th anniversary in San Diego. Eddie also won his softball game on Sunday..I have to say, I’m enjoying going to his games every week and cheering him on. Next next weekend, I’m excited to cheer him on at the Tough Mudder race he’s been preparing for. Here’s a video of what he’ll be doing.

Tough Mudder

Ah! I’d be so scared, but I’m kinda jealous. :)  Hope your week is awesome!

Quote of the Day

So, I finished Seasons 1-4 of Gossip Girl (Too bad Season 5 isn’t on Netflix) and now I’m on to starting Mad Men. Don Draper said this quote in one of the first few episodes and for some reason it stuck with me:

“Advertising is based on one thing: happiness. And do you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It’s freedom from fear. It’s a billboard on the side of a road that screams with reassurance that whatever you’re doing is OK. You are OK. “

Is this what happiness is to you and me? Or is it all a big illusion? There are those “things” that make me smile, like the smell of a new car, the realization that you’ve lost weight without even trying, the sight of colorful balloons, finding a cute item of clothing on sale, etc…but is that what happiness is? To me, happiness is simple. Look around. Look at your life. All of it…the good, the bad, and the ugly. Happiness is the blessing of a life worth living, no matter how chaotic, challenging, or boring it can be. We need to look at the life we have in order to appreciate what true happiness is. Now, I know not everyone’s life is peachy keen and we all have trials and tribulations. But, look on the bright side, if it weren’t for the breath of life we take each day, we wouldn’t be able to experience it otherwise. Do you know what I mean?

Quote of the Day

A case of the Mondays…

First of all, belated Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there! It is, by far, one of my favorite holidays now. Everyday should be Mother’s Day. :)

Secondly, hope your weekend went well. We’ve been doing a lot of relaxing and lounging around the apartment lately. I love the fact that I can be in the comfort of a place I can now call home. We’ve really settled in here and I’m happy to say that I’m glad we decided to stay living in the South Bay. Honestly, we were very hesitant on moving back towards our parents, but decided we wanted to create our own little home independent from everyone. I think it has been a great decision thus far. That just goes to show you the importance of communicating in a relationship and really making mutual decisions together.

I wanted to congratulate a good friend of mine who had her baby this weekend as well. Hi Nikki! And welcome baby Brooklyn to the world. Babies are serious miracles that I cannot help but recognize.

Lastly, I hope everyone’s week goes well. I hope to be doing some remodeling with this blog soon. Thank you to all who have continued to read and support me. Oh, and as far as the quote above, it’s so true..ain’t it?!? I hope you all know that there is something inside each of you that has the potential for greatness. I encourage you to use it, develop it (if you haven’t already), and nurture it for the greater good. It will probably make the world a whole lot better!

Peace.
