Oh Hello Friend Grand Opening!

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of going to the grand opening of a new vintage/ craft store in downtown Fullerton called Oh Hello Friend. Danni Hong, the creative genius behind the cute brand, was one of the women whose blog inspired me to make my own. I don’t know.. The idea of a person pursuing what they love to do and making it their full time job is such an amazing dream! It is truly inspiring! I’ve been trying to brainstorm some ideas.. And, well, lets just say you’ll be the first to know when I come up with anything good! ;)

She also had a dessert station and a DIY button station which was fun to enjoy while waiting in line. The store has a great location and is also surrounded by cute little vintage shops, delicious cafes, and unique stores.

I had to resort to my iPhone camera that day bc I had the baby with me and the idea of carrying my sister’s nice (but overly big) camera seemed impossible.. I don’t know how people do it! Anyway, it was a great morning and I enjoyed bonding with my sister and friend, Louise, who came with us. (Hi Lo!)

A DIY Wedding

A couple weekends ago, my husband and I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful, outdoor DIY wedding in Anaheim Hills, CA at the Oak Canyon Nature Center. This venue was gorgeous and, despite the heat, it was perfect weather underneath all the trees.

The entrance:

The venue told a lot about the couple and their outdoorsy style. You had to do a mini hike to get to the actual venue. Good thing I wore flats!

The Ceremony:

The ceremony set up was absolutely breathtaking! The altar was decorated with vintage suitcases, an old dresser that held a Bible, bread, and wine. There was also a washing of the feet section which the bride and groom participated in during the ceremony. the entire seating area was covered with muslin covers and above was adorned with this pretty white fabric. The picture really doesn’t do it justice, but it was truly one of a kind! Also, the groom is a pastor thus the ceremony was very unique and holy. Their bridesmaids and groomsmen even did a prayer circle around them.

After the ceremony, there was a brief intermission where guests could play games, drink cocktails, and eat some appetizers. The set up was so incredible, I have to share!

The reception:

They had a personalized Jenga game (the wood blocks were carved with “D+L”) and they had their own corn hole game. If you haven’t already noticed, this couple is definitely one you want to invite at your next game night!

To make your own personal corn hole game set, check out the DIY (with pictures) here!

The Table Details:

The place cards were hand painted succulent plants! Of course, my husband didn’t care about his so I stole his.

Their sweetheart table.

Table to Honor their Loved ones:

Gift Table:The food:

Okay, this might have been the best idea ever. Taco man for a wedding! It was so yummy and you bet  we went back for seconds! Nom.

Dessert:

Instead of a cake, they had an ice cream truck! I think I might have gone to heaven.

Just wanted to, once again, congratulate the happy newlyweds, Pastor Dave & Louise, as I wish them a happy & joyous marriage!

TodayI…Went Thrifting!

Okay, so there was another cool store I wanted to share. Last weekend, my husband and I went to LB for a mini day trip.

Long Beach City (view from car)

It was fun! I actually was surprised he wanted to go thrifting with me! We visited 2 really cool stores. One of them I posted about here. This next one was called “The Vintage Collective.” It is one of those buy, sell, consignment stores that are popping up everywhere, but this one was unique because it has things from the 1960′s (Vinyl galore, great furniture, timeless clothing, etc.) Here’s some of the things I found:

Really unique light fixtures
This antique recording system (reminded me of Meet the Fockers, ha)
Vintage cameras
Eddie testing one out
Cool storage drawers
Wooden Storage Drawer
Lockers
Records..records..and more records
Road signs
Coolest bingo set ever!
Part of the bingo set
Vintage baby shoes
File Boxes! Eddie bought me the teal one in the middle! Woohoo!
Lots and lots of clothes!
Cool little collectibles and such

Anyhow…if you want to experience a blast from the past, go visit this store. It was pretty funny because I found myself saying, “Wait a minute…my mom used to have this,” “We used to read these books!,” “My grandma had something like that and I always though it was ugly!” I think that’s what I enjoy most about going to thrift stores…bringing me back to my childhood days.
