TodayI…am ecstatic for my BFF getting engaged! And..she didn’t just get engaged anywhere…she got engaged in ITALY! Good job Micah! If you would like to know how to do a proper engagement, take a look at her Italy pictures and take notes! This post is really for all the men out there who may need some inspiration. Thank you Jiamee for allowing me to post this! 🙂
1. Pick a location.
When picking a location, make it a place that is special to your significant other, maybe somewhere you’ve been on a date together before, or maybe somewhere new that she’s been dreaming of going for a while. Wherever it is, plan ahead! Look up the place on a map and get directions. If it’s a public place look up their hours of operation (sometimes places will be closed on certain days like Mondays or Sundays) so you can plan accordingly. Can’t get more perfect than Val d’ Orcia, Italy, don’t ya think?
2. Reserve a nice hotel for your stay.
The last thing you would want your significant other to feel is uncomfortable. If you’re going out-of-town for this proposal, don’t be skimpy on this one! Think about what kind of places your bride-to-be has stayed at before…girls usually compliment the hotel if they liked it. Choose one you know she’ll like and appreciate.
3.Visit and explore the beautiful sights together.
How people act & behave outside of their comfort zones will tell a lot about the person. This step will run smoothly if you follow step 1: Plan Ahead! If you plan to propose at a location that you’ve never been before, pick up a guide-book or visit the local tourist office to help you map out a plan. Try to visit as many sites as you can…remember to enjoy yourself though! If your bride-to-be starts to get restless, stop and relax.
4. Bring the ring around with you in case you come across the perfect moment.
I’ve known a lot of men who have this ideal of how they are going to propose (my husband is one of them), but something happens and it doesn’t always go exactly as planned. That’s okay, don’t fret! Most women I know like spontaneity and being surprised. Trust your instincts! If a perfect moment (where you both are alone) comes along, take it!
Micah chose this place and the ring…well, let’s just say, it’s absolutely GORGEOUS!
5. Shmooze her with great tasting food… and wine. 😉
Hey, what can I say, what girl doesn’t love good food paired with wine? Take her out to lunch or dinner at a special place (maybe your favorite restaurant or somewhere she’s been dying to try.) If you’ve never been there before, I recommend looking at restaurant reviews. Sometimes the perfect meal is the very thing we, ladies, need after a long day. Just remember, a happy stomach is a happy wife! Haha.
6. Hope she says YES!
If you’ve followed all these steps correctly, then I pray for dear life she says yes to you. I’m no expert by any means, so please take what I say with a grain of salt. Good luck.
To my best friend and her groom-to-be, Micah….I am so happy for the both of you! I know you’ve been on an incredible journey and you both are so deserving of all the happiness life has to offer. Can’t wait to welcome you two to the married club!
